Syncra vs Syncthing

When Syncthing is the better choice

  • You want software whose source code anyone can read. Syncra's source code is private today.
  • You only need device-to-device sync and prefer a tool with no company behind it and no account.
  • You want a long-established community project that runs on a wide range of platforms.

When Syncra fits better

  • You also want cloud and NAS connectors (Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox, S3/R2, WebDAV, SFTP) in the same tool.
  • You want sync to stop by itself on suspected ransomware and a point-in-time restore.
  • You want a preview of every copy and delete, and a guard against mass deletions.

What Syncra costs

Personal use is free with every feature. Business, for work use by companies, organisations and public bodies, is 6,900 KRW (5.99 USD) per member per month, for two members or more.

Questions about Syncra and Syncthing

Can I run Syncra and Syncthing side by side?

Yes, for different folders. Do not let two sync tools manage the same folder at the same time, because they can fight over the same changes.

Which one is safer for my files?

Both are designed to avoid data loss, in different ways. Syncra keeps replaced files in a version store, asks before large deletions and can stop on suspected ransomware. Syncthing is open source, so anyone can review its code. Syncra has not had an independent audit yet; see our security page.
